New Swimmer Information

New Swimmer information:

Welcome to the BAAC swim team.

Interested in joining our team? Let’s answer your questions.

BAAC Competitive Swim Program

Qualifications:

Each new athlete needs to be able to swim a 25-yard freestyle with side breathing, a 25-yard backstroke with no stopping or rolling over, and some dolphin or breaststroke kick is preferred.

Team registration and tryouts:

Qualified athletes can register for the team by going to our website at BAACSwim.com. Click on the Team Registration tab and follow the instructions for a New Swimmer Tryout. Please enter your contact information and sign off on our team policies.  The registration will be held as pending, with no fees applied until the end of tryouts. When both parties agree that our team is a good fit, your registration will be approved, and the team fees will be charged.

Squad placement and practice expectations:

Most new swimmers start on the Age Group squad. Athletes transferring from another USA Swimming team or with significant swimming experience may start on the Senior Prep squad.

The Age Group squad practices are posted to the calendar. We recommend athletes attend three of the five practices offered. Swimmers can choose which days work for them each week, providing flexibility for their busy schedules and the opportunity to participate in other sports.

Meets:

The team participates in one swim meet per month. The competition calendar is posted on our website. We expect all team members to attend at least one swim meet per season. Sign up for all meets you are available to participate in. Coaches will let you know if your athlete is not ready for the meet. If your swimmer qualifies for a championship meet, they are expected to attend.

Team Fees:

We have a $150 registration fee due when you join the team. You will receive a team shirt and cap with your paid registration. Registration will be required in September each year. We are a USA Swimming team. USA Swimming registration is an annual registration requirement.

Activity Fees:

Senior, Senior Prep, and the Age Group squads are charged a season fee. The short course season is seven months, from September through March, and the long course is five months, from April to August. The season activity fee will be billed monthly. However, participants are financially responsible for the entire season fee after the one-week grace period at the beginning of each season. Starting late or leaving early in the season will not be prorated.

We will offer a 5% discount on the season fee if paid in full at registration.

Discounts can not be combined. Choose either the family cap or the 5% discount if paid in full.
