Volunteer Opportunities

BAAC Parent/Volunteer information

Welcome! BAAC encourages a fun, vigorous, and safe atmosphere for its members through policies, practices, and informative opportunities.

Volunteers are essential to the success of our swim team. To name a few opportunities, we need support at meets through officials, marshals, and timers. Other volunteer opportunities may include board member positions, pool covering, fundraising, and other similar activities.

All BAAC Volunteers must take the online course “Parents Guild to Misconduct in Sport” found at www.usaswimming.org/learn and must be a Non-Member at USA Swimming. Also, parents, swimmers, and volunteers are required to agree to all BAAC membership policies.

Volunteer Opportunities:

  • Become a Stroke and Turn Official or an Electronic Timing Official. We need Officials to run our meets fairly. All teams need to provide Officials to attend swim meets. It's the best seat in the house.
  • Squad Parent -Plan fun activities for the kids outside of the pool.
  • Portland Marathon - BAAC supports fellow athletes by running a water station at the Portland Marathon. We need a team captain and a large number of volunteers. The Marathon is in October.
  • Swim-A-Thon - This is BAAC's major fundraiser during the long course season. We need a team leader and a fundraising committee.
  • Fundraising Committee - Supports fundraising opportunities for the team.
  • Team Photographer - We need several people to take photos of all ages.
  • Meet Organizers - We need several parents who are willing to arrive early at the swim meet and set up the BAAC family seating area, complete with our banner.
  • Ribbons Pick up and sort - Ribbons are handed out to teams at the end of meets. We need several parents willing to pick up the ribbons, sort them, and deliver them to practice. The kids love their ribbons!
  • Annual Swim Team Awards Banquet - this requires a committee of parents. The banquet is in May.
  • Car Pool Organizer - Help families coordinate car pools.
  • New Family Mentor - New families need someone to help them understand the world of swimming. We want to pair up new families with an experienced team member.
  • Team Apparel - This person would order caps and team apparel. Usually, there is one order per season. This would include state championship shirts and registration shirts.
  • Equipment Labeler. Most of the kids do not have their equipment labeled. We need someone to help label the unlabeled equipment.
  • Team Event Organizer - BBQs, pancake breakfasts, pizza parties, mystery friends, big sister-little sister, secret Santa, scavenger hunt, cookie exchange, and other team bonding activities.
  • THPRD Event Rep - We are THPRD affiliates. We can utilize THPRD events to promote our team.
  • Build a Pool Committee - BAAC needs a home pool. We are looking into building our pool. Volunteer to contribute to this committee.
  • Safe Sport Coordinator - BAAC is a Safe Sport team. We need a parent willing to promote Safe Sport compliance and involvement.
  • Marketing Committee - Support our marketing efforts to enhance our team's visibility and promotion.
  • Sponsorship Committee - Identify and pursue potential sponsors for our teams.
